Welcome to my web page.

My name is Buddy Barbay. One of my hobbies is collecting beer steins. Not only are they drinking vessels, but they can be beautiful pieces of art which often can tell a story about the past. Here some the steins from my collection.

Steins can come in a variety of materials and shapes. They may be glass, stonware, pewter, wood, silver, ivory, or other materials. Steins range in size from miniatures which are only an inch or so tall to big 5 liter vessels which are called tankards. Steins all have lids (if not, they are called mugs). Steins may be any shape imaginable. They may even be in the shape animals, people, or other objects. These are called character steins.

These character steins are in the form of owls.

This stein on the right was made in Germany after WWII by the Mathius Grimshield Co.

The stein on the left is an owl character stein wich was made in Japan by the Hachiya Bros. Co.

Here are some examples of some glass steins.

This stein is called a Mettlach. It was made by the firm of Villeroy and Boch.

Here is an interesting stein. At first it just looks like an old salt glazed stein. But then you look inside and see the really neat part. Unfortunately I do not know anything about this stein other than it is German.
